As if you wouldnt have anyway, bibliophiles might want to swing by the New Canaan Library over the weekend. The Friends of the Library will sponsor the semi-annual book sale from Friday, May 21 to Monday, May 24. There will also be a silent auction of rare and special books all day May 20 and 21.
Since last October, the book sale has been dedicated to John Randolph, a former books sale chair for many years. John passed away this March. John was an extremely dedicated volunteer, said current book sale chair Barb Wood in a press release. The book sale is a significant tribute to him.
The main sale does not officially begin until 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, but because of high turnout in recent years, those interested can take a number to reserve a space in line starting at 11:00 a.m. When the last sale opened, there were as many as 104 people already waiting in line.
All items will be full price Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday, everything drops to half price from noon to 5 p.m. And on Monday, bargain hunters can fill a bag for $5 from 9 a.m. to noon, after which every item is free with a donation to the Library until 3 p.m. If you're interested in the silent auction, you can stop by the Library Thursday before 8 p.m. or Friday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. For more information, call Cynde Lahey at 203-594-5021 or e-mail [email protected].
