Dear Neighbors,
We believe that New Castle can be even better.
We are hard-working, local businesspeople, and we are your neighbors. For the first time in sixteen years, we are candidates who offer you a real choice this November.
Our platform is substantive and pro-active. This is Team New Castles Pledge to Our Town:
TAXES
Expand our commercial tax base to help our schools and to reduce an unsustainable tax burden on residents.
Resolve tax inequity in the western part of town.
VISION
Update New Castles Master Plan for Development to enable the community to pro-actively refresh its policies, its vision, and its road map for the future.
OUR HAMLETS
Promote second floor commercial occupancy in hamlets to increase daytime business mass.
Market each hamlets assets to promote exploration of commercial opportunities.
Alleviate peak traffic congestion in Chappaqua hamlet that stifles commerce.
Enhance pedestrian friendly solutions in each hamlet.
FINANCIAL INITIATIVES
Seek shared services with other municipalities to save expenses. Explore use of independent contractors or other outsourced solutions where appropriate.
Leverage the towns financial rating and take advantage low market interest rates to execute capital improvements now.
ADVOCACY
Expand the latest sewer petition to the county to once again include ALL areas with failing septic systems within the Croton Watershed -- Kisco Park and Stanwood as well as Pheasant Run and the Millwood business district.
Demand a level of maintenance of county and state roads within our town that is competitive with neighboring towns.
Seek federal, state or regional assistance for solutions to flood prone areas of town.
Insist on effective maintenance of utility infrastructure within the town and demand a higher priority of response from the PSC and its regulated utilities during emergencies
COMMUNICATION
Engage New Castles intellectual capital.
Establish an Economic Development Committee to empower and grow a vibrant Chamber of Commerce in each hamlet.
Conduct an on-going, open listening tour format in locations all over the town to inform and engage residents and build on ideas.
We offer pragmatic solutions.
We offer you a choice this year.
Sincerely,
BOB KIRKWOOD, For Town Supervisor
RICH DIEFENBACH, For Town Board
