The Stamford Legion senior team is proving it's not how you start the seasonit's how you finish. Despite being the number 16-seeded team in the state, Stamford advanced from the play-in round and brought down the top ranked team in the tournament, RCP, on Saturday 2-1 in 10 innings.
Frank Spoto hit a dramatic two-out single to drive in the go ahead run and Tommy McIntosh closed it out to keep Stamford in the winners' bracket of the double-elimination tournament. Center fielder Mike Summa threw out a runner trying to score from second on a two-out hit in the eighth that preserved the tie.
