Coleytown Elementary student Layla Wofsy was surrounded by hundreds of friends and family members Friday as she celebrated her 10th birthday. But instead of receiving hundreds of gifts, she helped give hundreds of gifts to needy children.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Wofsy family hosted an open-house charity event called "Stuffed With Love" the day after Thanksgiving in which families not only stuff but also completely outfit and name stuffed animals.
"Stuffed with Love" was created by Hallie and Scott Wofsy after Layla, their oldest daughter, asked to host a charity event for her birthday, Hallie said.
This year, about 140 families participated, helping to create nearly 350 stuffed animals. These animals were given to the Westport nonprofit Al's Angels for distribution to needy children.
