At 8:08 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, officers responded to 2083 Lawrence Rd. after Keith Terwilliger was operating a gas-powered dirt bike northbound on the southbound sidewalk and crashed head-on into the boy riding a bicycle, Lawrence Township police said.
The boy was riding his bicycle southbound on the same sidewalk, police said. He sustained serious bodily injuries and was transported to Capital Health Regional Hospital for initial treatment, police said. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to another hospital for further care, police said. Terwilliger was not injured, police said.
Terwilliger was charged with assault by auto, police said. He was also issued summonses for reckless driving, careless driving, driving on the sidewalk and driving an unregistered vehicle while being unlicensed and uninsured, police said.
