Kayaker Missing After Capsizing In Susquehanna River

A search is underway after a kayaker disappeared in the Susquehanna River near the Maryland-Pennsylvania border Sunday evening, Aug. 2, authorities said.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Rock Run Landing in Port Deposit at approximately 6:25 p.m. after receiving reports that a man had capsized while kayaking in the Susquehanna River.

The man did not resurface after the kayak overturned, Maryland Natural Resources Police told wmar2news.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Cecil County emergency crews and the Robert Fulton Fire Company in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania department said its Station 89 crews were assisting Cecil County Station 7 with the water rescue operation.

The search remained active Sunday night. No additional information about the missing kayaker has been released.
