Born on England, Smith came to America after marrying her husband, Edward Smith. She was employed at Big Ben and as a babysitter for many years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church. "Family and friends were Katie’s love and joy," according to information provided by the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home.
Smith is survived by her sons, Glenn and Kevin; daughters-in-law Donna, Franni, Gloria and Angela; grandchildren Melissa, Dawn, Glenn, William, Michele, Catina, Renee, Lynnette, Michael, Kimberly and Danielle; great-grandchildren Christina, Rebecca, Michael, Hannah, Raymond, Shaun, Kylie, Abby and Brynn; and many relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; son Lenny; parents George and Katie Summers; and brothers George and Lenny.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., in Poughkeepsie.
