Joseph Mavaro, 81, Fairfield Electronics Technician

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Joseph J. Mavaro, a longtime Fairfield resident, died Dec. 8. He was 81.

Mavaro was born in Bridgeport to Joseph and Josephine Palmeri Mavaro. He worked as an electronics technician for the maintenance department at Fairfield Public Schools for 35 years. He was a Jehovah's Witness minister for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Josephine Skudlarek Mavaro; three children, Joseph J. (Patricia) Mavaro Jr., of Easton, Thomas A. (Candace) Mavaro, of Monroe, and Mary Jo (Kevin) Crimmins, of Simsbury; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Mavaro also is survived by five siblings, Mary Mavaro, of Milford, Concetta Rooney, of Milford, Jo Morrissey, of Stratford, Fran Strack, of Nashua, N.H., and Patrina Bunting, of Hilton Head, S.C. He was predeceased by three siblings, Zigmund Turco, Rose Turco and James Mavaro.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be private.
