NORWALK, Conn. Jorn Andersen died peacefully at Westport Health Care Center on April 15. He was 71.
He was born Nov. 22, 1940 in Frederiksberg, Denmark, to the late Kjeld and Hildur Rasmussen Wandahl Andersen. He graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a masters degree in manufacturing and engineering.
Andersen worked in research and development of plastic products for American and European companies and was awarded many patents for products that are widely used today.
Married to Elaine Giczey Andersen, he lived in Indiana, Georgia, New Jersey, Vermont and Denmark. He loved sharing his Danish culture, family history and experience with those around him. He also enjoyed cooking gourmet meals, restoring antiques, sailing and going to the beach during the summer.
Andersen is survived by his wife, Elaine; two sons, Christian (Tracey) Andersen, of Newburgh, Ind., and Brett (Jahari) Andersen, of Brookline, Vt.; a grandson and two sisters-in-law living in Denmark. He was predeceased by two brothers, Per and Kurt Andersen.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory in Norwalk is handling arrangements.
