POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – John Thomas Heady, formerly of Poughkeepsie, died Tuesday, April 5. He was 31.
He was born Dec. 18, 1985, to Lisa Wortman in Poughkeepsie. He attended Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, after which he worked as a chimney installer until moving to South Carolina a year ago. He took pride in his work and advanced quickly to an assistant manager position with Food Lion. His most treasured time was spent interacting with family and friends. He had a passion for billiards, listening to country music, golf and basketball.
He is survived by his fiancé, Marylou Whitely; son, John Heady Jr. (JJ); children, Nicholas, Brianna and Alishia Whitely; his mother, Lisa Wortman, of Florida; Dennis Wortman; brother and sister, Jeremy and Valerie Wortman; maternal grandmother, Elaine Heady; aunt, Lynn Enkler; ahd his great-aunts, uncles and cousins.
A period of memorial visitation will be conducted from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park, 1 Church St., Hyde Park. A brief prayer will be conducted by the Rev. Kregg Gabor at 2:30 p.m. The family respectfully requests no flowers.
