At 7:20 a.m., Berkeley Township police and fire responded to a Pheasant Drive for a small brush fire, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.
The fire was extinguished by firefighters and an investigation revealed the fire started in a mulch bed on the south side of the residence and was started by a man, later identified as John Bruno, using an open flame to an ignitable liquid, Billhimer said.
Bruno was taken into custody and charged with aggravated arson, Billhimer said.
