Joan Pitasi, a longtime Greenwich resident who served for 25 years as executive assistant to the director of the Ferguson Library in Stamford, died at her home on Sept. 3. She was born Sept. 7, 1931, to the late J. Richard Walling and Julia O'Leary Walling.
Pitasi was an avid skier and spent her winters in Vermont with her late husband, Sylvio Pitasi, children and grandchildren. She also loved her time spent at the library and cherished her longtime friendships.
Pitasi is survived by her children; Lynn Pitasi Leavey, Kim Pitasi, Diane Pitasi Malik, Lisa Pitasi Fischer and Joseph Pitasi, and many grandchildren. Family and friends may visit the Castiglione Funeral Home Inc. on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
