Jo Ann Tolla, 62, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Thursday, June 2, at the Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence after a 2 ½-year battle with cancer. Tolla was born on Oct. 18, 1948, and spent her entire life living in Stamford.
A devout Catholic, Tolla worked as the director of religious education at St. Gabriels, St. Bridgets and St. Clements churches in Stamford. Her efforts helped many discover a love for God and the church.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; her sons, Michael, Douglas and Christopher; her sister, Debby Wilson; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Alan Kolar.
Tollas family received guests Monday morning at the Bosak Funeral Home, where a celebration of her life was held at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. The family asks that donations be made in her memory to St. Clement of Rome Church, care of the Religious Education Program, 535 Fairfield Ave., Stamford, CT 06902.
