At 7:27 am., officers and firefighters responded to the motel at 2035 Route 35 after the roof partially collapsed due to the recent severe weather in the area, Wall Township police said.
While emergency crews were on scene, a secondary portion of the roof collapsed, police said. New Jersey Natural Gas and Jersey Central Power & Light Utility responded to safely secure all services to the location, police said.
The building was vacant at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported, police said. Township officials and emergency personnel have notified the property owner and will continue to monitor the site to ensure the unsafe structure is properly addressed, police said.
