The crash happened at approximately 6:16 p.m. Sunday, July 26, when a gray 2019 Jeep was traveling westbound on East Williston Avenue in East Williston, according to Nassau County Police. The driver experienced a medical emergency, causing the SUV to leave the roadway and strike North Side Elementary School on the north side of the building, police said.
The 77-year-old man was taken to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation, authorities said. His condition was not immediately released.
Nassau County's Emergency Services Unit responded to remove the vehicle from the building. The East Williston Fire Department also responded and determined the school building was safe, according to police.
No additional injuries were reported, and police did not release the driver's identity.
