Jared Beswick is now charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and other weapons offenses, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said. He was previously charged with assault by auto, Billhimer said.
At 8:45 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 13, Lacey police responded to Route 539 after a Ford Explorer driven by Beswick, was traveling erratically northbound on the highway when it entered the southbound lane of travel and collided head-on with a Toyota Rav4, Ocean County Prosecutor Billhimer said.
The driver of the Toyota Rav4 and a passenger in the Ford Explorer were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where they are listed in serious but stable condition, Billhimer said.
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, a search of Beswick's vehicle led to the seizure of two loaded handguns, three high-capacity ammunition magazines, and a quantity of hollow point ammunition, Billhimer said.
Beswick was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin where a draw of his blood was obtained pursuant to a court-authorized warrant, Billhimer said. Upon his release from the hospital, Beswick will be transported to the Ocean County Jail where he will be lodged pending a detention hearing, Billhimer said.
