Kingston resident Jamori Douglas, 20, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 2, in connection with a July shooting on Boulevard Knolls, the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department announced on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. on July 8, when authorities received a report of multiple gunshots and a possible person struck by gunfire. Officers searched the area and checked local hospitals but could not find a gunshot victim, according to police.

However, investigators did find 15 9mm shell casings, along with bullet strikes to two vehicles and a residence, the department said.

After an investigation by Poughkeepsie detectives, Douglas was arrested with help from the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and URGENT, police said. He was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both armed violent felonies.

Douglas was arraigned in Dutchess County Court and ordered held in the Dutchess County Jail without bail on Monday, Oct. 5.

Police said the investigation is still active. Anyone with information is asked to call the Poughkeepsie Police tip line at 845-451-7577. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
