POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – James Cusumano of Poughkeepsie died Thursday, April 21, due to congestive heart failure at the Lutheran Care Center. He was 100.
He was born Aug. 22, 1915, in New York City. He was married in 1946 to Lillian Wasielewski. They had a daughter, Barbara, in 1947, and son, James, in 1950.
He was an engineer who worked at Norden, a division of United Aircraft for about 40 years. He was instrumental in the development of the Norden Bombsite, which played a huge role in World War II. After retiring in the early 1970s, he volunteered for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary and over the years became a commander.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara, and her children, Lisa, Michael and Robert; his son, James, and his children, Jennifer, James, Diana and Tyler; and six great-grandchildren, Karisa, Joseph, Allison, Sara, Caitlain and Aiden.
Church services were scheduled for Monday, April 25, at 11:30 a.m. at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, Route 82, Lagrange.
