Apple has just released iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6, and macOS Tahoe 26.6 with broad security patches, bug fixes, and preparations for its next operating systems.
The company’s iOS and iPadOS security notice documents nearly 90 vulnerabilities affecting components including the kernel, WebKit, Wi-Fi, Apple Neural Engine, App Store, Siri, and system permissions.
Several flaws could allow an app to access sensitive information, escape its security sandbox, write to protected system memory, or cause an unexpected shutdown.
Apple also corrected an accessibility flaw that could expose sensitive information to someone with physical access during iPhone Mirroring.
Multiple WebKit vulnerabilities affected the technology that powers Safari and web content inside other apps. The problems could enable interface spoofing, interfere with browser sandboxing, expose browsing activity, or cause crashes after processing malicious content.
The update is available for iPhone 11 and later.
Compatible tablets include third-generation and later iPad Air models, eighth-generation and later iPads, fifth-generation and later iPad minis, first-generation and later 11-inch iPad Pros, and third-generation and later 12.9-inch iPad Pros.
The macOS Tahoe 26.6 security package is even larger, addressing more than 130 vulnerabilities.
Some could allow malicious apps to gain root privileges, bypass Gatekeeper protections, break out of their sandboxes, access protected data, or corrupt kernel memory.
Apple also patched Mac vulnerabilities affecting Safari, Siri, Spotlight, Wi-Fi, audio processing, disk images, printing, screen sharing, and remote management.
One Siri flaw could have allowed someone with physical access to a locked Mac to view contacts and photographs. Another vulnerability could have exposed sensitive user data to an app.
The mobile updates also optimize the Spotlight search index ahead of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. Completing some of that behind-the-scenes cataloging now is intended to reduce the indexing work required after the next major upgrades arrive.
A small user-facing change involves blocked contacts. iOS 26.6 displays an alert when a user reaches the maximum number of blocked entries and must remove one before adding another, according to 9to5Mac.
iPhone and iPad users can install the update by opening Settings, selecting General, and choosing Software Update.
Mac users can open System Settings, select General, and choose Software Update.
