Hybrid Athletics won the Stamford A&B Division softball championship Tuesday night at Cummings Park. Hybrid defeated defending champion Pasiak Trucking, 24-9, in the championship game. Players include Mark Rabush, Lee Lipschutz, Chris Hall, John Santorella, Mark Lacerenza, Chris Antonacci, Mike Carriero, Bob Haggerty, Rob Tuminski, Mike Burke and Chris Lessard.
The team is comprised of Stamford natives who attended Stamford High, Westhill and Trinity Catholic. "We always played in the league, but for various teams,'' said manager/player Mike Carriero. "We all grew up together and we wanted to keep our friends together."
Carriero said he expected the team to do well. Winning the championship, however, made the season-long journey more satisfying. "With those guys on the other side, you can't count on anything,'' Carriero said about Pasiak, a veteran team that won last year's city title. "They're a great bunch of guys. Beating them for the championship feels great."
