Hundreds Without Power As Storms Move Through Putnam

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. — Early morning thunderstorms  have resulted in numerous power outages in Putnam County on Tuesday morning.

More than 600 customers were left without power in Putnam County, according to NYSEG.

The storms could cause urban flooding along streets and low-lying areas in Putnam County, the National Weather Service said. 

The showers and thunderstorms in the area could bring rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches, with some areas getting as much as 3 inches. 

Hourly rain rates could be up to 2 inches per hour, the weather service said. 

High temperatures will approach 77 degrees with a 100 percent chance of rain on Tuesday.

Showers are likely with a possible thunderstorm before midnight Tuesday night, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 3 a.m.
