Homes Evacuated After Gas Main Break In Suffern (Developing)

A gas main break prompted evacuations and an emergency response in Rockland County on Wednesday, April 29, officials said.

The incident occurred on Utopian Avenue in the Village of Suffern, according to Mayor Mike Curley, who alerted residents shortly after noon. 

Police and fire personnel responded to the scene and evacuated several nearby homes as a precaution. 

Orange & Rockland crews were also called in and are working to address the situation.

Officials are urging residents to avoid the Suffern pool area while crews work to bring the situation under control.

No injuries have been reported, and it is unclear what caused the gas main break.
