Homeowner Workshop Monday in Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- With more and more people out of work and their homes in danger of foreclosure,the city of Peekskill will be hosting the "Hold On To The Dream" workshop on Monday for area homeowners.

The event is a workshop aimed at educating and empowering area homeowners and is co-sponsored by the Preservation Company and the Housing Action Council.

The workshop is aimed at answering questions many homeowners or potential homeowners have about the homeownership such as: What are your options for navigating the loan modification process? Can a non-profit housing counselor help? What is the goal of the settlement conference at court? How does a short sale work? When is bankruptcy the right choice? What is the legal timeline?

Get answers from an expert panel including Joseph Licare of Court Attorney Referee; Ira Clair, a partner at Clair & Gjertsen, Esqs.; Luz Lizarazo, an Attorney at Cabanillas & Associates, P.C.; Luis Fernandez, a Keller Williams Real Estate Agent and Frengiz Surty, a housing counselor at the Housing Action Council. Many of the guests speak Spanish.

The workshop begins at 7 p.m. at the neighborhood center, located at 4 Nelson Ave. Light refreshments will be served
