The best swimmer in the state lives in New Canaan. Connecticut Swimming gave its highest individual honor to Christian Higgins at its annual awards banquet, naming him "swimmer of the year."
Higgins, a New Canaan High School senior, was a star for the Wilton Y Wahoos swim team this summer. He set new Wahoo team records as well as Y National and Connecticut state records in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke. His record-breaking time placed him 68th in the world in the 200-meter breaststroke. He also represented the Wahoos for the USA National Youth Team at meets in Sweden, Germany and Hawaii.
Higgins was honored with 88 of his teammates as outstanding scholar-athletes at the banquet.
