Herrmann Qualifies for GOP Primary

First Selectman Thomas A. Herrmann announced yesterday afternoon that he received enough petition signatures to qualify for the Republican primary for U.S.  Congress, according to the Easton Courier. Herrmann collected 2,500 signatures from registered Republicans in the 4th District, surpassing the required 1,988 to qualify for the Aug. 10 primary. The Courier reported that the first selectman said the signatures are being checked against the voter lists. Herrmann would face Shelton State Sen. Dan Debicella in the primary. Incumbent Democrat Jim Himes is running for re-election.
