SOS - Please help the Westport Public Library Stay Open Sundays. The Board of Finance cut the Librarys budget for next year, already a bare-bones plan, by $100,000. The Library requested restoration of $45,000, which was denied. Now, on May 3rd, the Library will go before the RTM to request restoration of $45,000. If the RTM does not vote favorably on this request, it may be necessary for the Library to close on some Sundays due to lack of funds. The RTMs Library, Museum & Arts Committee has voted unanimously to support our restoration request. BUT, A 70% VOTE OF THE REPRESENTATIVE TOWN MEETING (RTM) IS NECESSARY TO RESTORE ESSENTIAL LIBRARY FUNDING. Tell your RTM member how important the Library is to you and your family, ask the RTM to restore the Librarys funding.
Please go on the Librarys website www.westportlibrary.org , click on to see how You can help the Westport Public Library Stay Open Sundays next year and beyond. Follow the steps to get an email link to your RTM representative, attend the RTM budget hearings on Monday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Westport Town Hall and speak out for the Library. Thank you, we greatly appreciate your help.
