Wellington's Grill, located in Harrison at 110 Halstead Ave., announced on Tuesday, Jan. 20, that it has closed permanently as of Monday, Jan. 19, ending a three-decade run in the village.

“Effective today, January 19, 2026, Wellington’s Grill will close permanently,” owners Bill and Aly Powell wrote in a message shared on Facebook. “We would like to thank all of our friends, family, customers and staff that have worked for us over the last 30 years.”

The Powells said the decision marks a personal transition.

“The time has come for Aly and I to move on to the next phase of our lives,” they wrote, adding, “We appreciate all your support, patience and fun we have had over the years. Thank you and we wish everyone the best.”

Wellington’s Grill was originally opened in 1995 by Bill Powell, a Harrison native and the owner of Powell Catering, according to the restaurant’s website. The restaurant became known as a friendly, family-oriented spot offering classic dishes and a welcoming atmosphere.

After selling the business years ago, the restaurant went through several ownership changes before Powell ultimately decided to reopen Wellington’s himself, updating the décor and concept while bringing back familiar elements.

The closure marks the end of an era for a restaurant that, in various forms, remained a fixture on Halstead Avenue for generations of Harrison diners.
