Each of the fundraisers throughout the year helped raise awareness of heart-related diseases and illnesses as well as raising money. They also gave students an opportunity to participate in healthy exercises. Physical education teachers who coordinated the events were Jennifer Burkhardt and Tim Poole-Di Salvo at S.J. Preston Elementary School; Estel Sampelayo and Sara Witmer at Purchase Elementary School; Rita Beardsley and Louis Kail at Harrison Avenue Elementary School; and Steve Williams and Erica Mariani at Parsons Memorial Elementary School.
