Hackensack Y Opens Registration For Swim Classes

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Registration for summer swim classes at the YMCA of Greater Bergen County is now open.

The YMCA offers swim lessons for all levels beginning at 6 months through adult, and teaches the nationally recognized Y Progressive swim program. Certified guards and instructors who are experienced in teaching both children and adults aquatic skills and personal safety are on site.

Swim lessons 6-36 months with parent: Introduction for babies and toddlers who have little or no water experience. Enjoy games, songs and safety tips. Children learn the basics of kicking, scooping and floating. The parent or guardian must be in the water with children.

Preschool, 3-5 years: 30-minute lessons teach children to be comfortable in the water, how to paddle in various positions, float and make proper hand motions.

Progressive swim, 6-17 years: 30-minute lessons provided for non-swimmer/beginner to advanced swimmer based on ability. Children will develop confidence in the water and learn different strokes (freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) as they complete the swim levels. Success completion of level is required to advance to next level.
