The holiday began in 1919, when President Woodrow Wilson declared Nov. 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. It became Veterans' Day and a public holiday to honor the veterans of all wars in 1954.
The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. The Courthouse Green is at Main and Court streets.
