CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Groovy on Grand is opening a design studio across from the businesss current retail space on Sunday, April 1, in a long-vacant Croton storefront on Grand Street. Co-owner Andrea Andrews will open the former section of Wondrous Things as a design studio, allowing the original location of Groovy on Grand, and co-owner Lisa Parmeggia, to focus on retail business.
A fashion designer by trade, Andrews says she is excited to focus her energy strictly on design.
This has been my favorite part of the business, she said in a release, and this new location allows me to narrow in on just that. Plus, Lisa will now have more room for a greater amount of new and expanded merchandise that our Croton and Westchester neighbors have been asking we carry.
The six-week fashion design summer camp the store became known for will continue; think of the laundry lines of tie-dye shirts youve seen drying in the summer sun. The Groovy on Grand design studio will also offer more adult and teen sewing classes and wearable-art classes. The additional space will allow the store to continue to offer custom orders for graduations and bat mitzvahs, and even vintage monogrammed baby gifts.
For the past few years, we have had birthday parties, design camps and make-your-own T-shirts and accessories, but now we have a space where we will focus solely on that area of business, Andrews said in the release.
Groovy on Grand is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (914) 271-0700 for more information.
