The Greenwich Board of Education has accepted the town tree wardens stipulation that it replace 121 trees slated for removal at Greenwich High School with 180 new ones.
The board voted 7-1 to allow revisions to the plan to remove the trees so that the schools Music Instruction Space and Auditorium project can begin as scheduled on July 1.
Spaman said the board must also enhance the projects already planned tree islands to foster the trees health and lifespan.
The Representative Town Meeting has approved $17 million for the first phase of the $29 million project. The additional trees and altered tree islands will add about $100,000 to the cost, according to The Greenwich Time.
