The pavilion at Westport's Compo Beach was the target of graffiti artists this week. On Wednesday, a red spray-painted cat and the words, "Relax, it comes off," could be seen on the back wall of the pavilion. But by Friday, there was no trace of the not-so-artistic work.
"I don't have the details on exactly when it happened, but it must have happened the night before you saw it," Stuart McCarthy, director of the Parks and Recreation Department, said Friday. "Graffiti generates more graffiti, so we cover it as soon as we see it."
McCarthy added that all incidents of vandalism are reported to the Westport Police Department.
