GOPO Toys issued the recall for about 70,410 GOPO TOYS Pull String Teething Toys, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, June 18. The teethers violate the mandatory federal toy safety standard because the silicone strings are smaller and longer than allowed.
The recalled toy's strings can reach the back of a child's throat and become lodged, creating a serious and deadly choking hazard. GOPO has received three reports of children choking on the toys or having respiratory distress, according to the CPSC.
The teether is off-white with a gray ball in the center. The disc-shaped toy has six multi-colored silicone pull strings that look like tentacles and run through the ball.
The toys were available on Amazon from August 2023 through March 2026. They were sold for between $11 and $15.
Parents are urged to stop using the toy immediately and take it away from children. To receive a full refund, customers should cut all silicone strings, write "DESTROYED" on the toy's main body with a permanent marker, and send a photo of the destroyed product to [email protected] before throwing it in the trash.
