Emma Moskovitz and Katherine Friend have received Westport Softball's John Ward award for sportsmanship and love for the game. The award is presented annually to eighth-grade girls in the Juniors Softball League. The award is named after a former league coach who died in 1990. Bill Meyer, chairman emeritus of Westport Softball, and Steve Axthelm, the league's vice president, made the presentation.
