Georgetown Day Makes Fun No. 1

Live music, food, crafts and fun come to Georgetown today as part of the annual Georgetown Day on Main Street. The festival features fun activities for all ages. Local restaurants will sell some of their favorite foods, and local craftsmen will showcase their artwork, crafts, jewelry and clothing. A beer tent, chili cookoff, hot dog eating competition, dunking booth, clowns, face-painting,  mini-train and bouncy house promise to keep the crowds entertained.

"It gets the community together, the street is packed," said Mary Jo Melo, front-of-the-house manager at Lombardi's Restaurant in Georgetown. "It gives us a chance to see people that we don't always get to see--people that aren't regular customers." The restaurant will be selling pizza slices, ice cream, fried dough and sliders along Main Street.

The event, which is sponsored by Georgetown Village Restoration, Inc., The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Dept., the Joel Barlow Wrestling Team and the Georgetown Lions Club, runs from noon until 7 p.m.
