In a letter to families and staff Superintendent Stephen Santilli said they have not yet figured out a plan to relocate the 670 students and 109 staff to other buildings in the district.
"While space is a challenge, even more pressing is the gathering and distribution of needed materials and supplies, breakfast/lunch, transportation needs, and parent drop/off and pickup in the new locations, are just a few of the many obstacles when developing a plan of this magnitude," Santilli said.
Santilli said he expects the implementation to occur next week, forcing Arthur Rann to remain closed Thursday, Jan. 29 and Friday, Jan. 30.
"I realize this is an inconvenience for all of our parents/guardians, but as a team we will not implement a plan that we are not ready to execute, as the safety of all of our students and staff will remain at the forefront," Santilli said.
Around midnight, officers and firefighters responded to the Arthur Rann Elementary School in Galloway Township, observing smoke and flames coming from the building, Galloway Police said.
The fire occurred in one classroom and was quickly extinguished, police said. The classroom was the only room that sustained fire damage, though other classrooms sustained minor damage, police said.
