Born on Oct. 22, 1984, in Fredericksburg to Louis Ashton Minter and Cheryl (Sealy) Minter, “Stephanie's passing is a lost felt throughout an entire family and a whole host of friends,” her obituary reads. “Stephanie can best be described as a happy, jolly individual, filled with love and adoration for her loved ones. A beam of light in dark places.”
She is survived by her grandmother, Mary Louise Smith; her mother, Cheryl Sealy Minter; her son, Caden Montague; three brothers; numerous nieces and nephews; a special great nephew; and a special friend, according to her obituary.
On Facebook, friend Kim Barnes shared a tribute remembering Stephanie’s strength and faith.
“You were always willing to help someone else, always ready to show kindness, always trying to lift others up, even when you were hurting yourself,” Barnes wrote. “That kind of heart is rare. That kind of love is special.”
Barnes also wrote, “Rest now, beautiful friend. Your fight is over, but your light remains alive in every heart you touched, especially mine.”
"We lost a truly beautiful soul," Michelle Buker wrote. "She wasn’t perfect, but none of us are. What she was is kind, caring, funny, and full of light. She had the kind of smile that made you feel welcome and the kind of heart that made you feel seen. ✨
"She loved deeply. She laughed loudly. She showed up for people. And that’s how I will always remember her. Her struggles do not define her. Her love does. ❤️"
Officers responded to Richmond Highway and Arlington Drive in Hybla Valley at 7:16 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, and found Minter inside a bus stop shelter with multiple stab wounds to her upper body, police said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, and Abdul Jalloh, 32, who reportedly has a lengthy criminal record, has since been charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death, police said.
