Friday the 13th Doesn't Scare These Norwalkers

Christa Bray is not afflicted with paraskevidekatriaphobics: She’s not afraid of Friday the 13th at all, according to a Facebook post. Valerie Saltzman doesn’t seem to think she should be afraid, either. And Daniela Ialeggio O'Callaghan was looking forward to today – it’s her birthday.

You may be wondering where the word triskadectaphobia went. That’s an irrational fear of the number 13, while paraskevidekatriaphobics is a morbid fear of Friday the 13th, according to Internet sources. About.com says there may be a reason to be afraid, as a study published in the United Kingdom 18 years ago shows a higher risk of a car accident on Friday the 13th — at least for people in England.

About.com says the fear of the number 13 goes back to Norsemen and Egyptians, but Facebook fan Dale E. Mayer isn’t impressed: “13 happens to be my lucky number!” Follow The Daily Norwalk on Facebook!
