Frank Valenti, Taught at Wright Tech

A Mass was celebrated Friday for Frank Valenti, a lifelong Stamford resident and retired teacher at Wright Technical School. Valenti, who was known as "Cheech," died Monday at the age of 92. He was born May 27, 1918, and graduated from Stamford High School and J.M. Wright Technical School. He also earned a degree from Central Connecticut State College. He served in Europe with the Army Air Force during World War II, later working for Globe Slicing Machine Co. However, he left his position there after securing a job with his alma mater, Wright School. He taught at Wright for 29 years before his 1983 retirement. Valenti enjoyed working with his hands. He also enjoyed interacting with children. His greatest pleasure, however, was spending time with his wife, Leila Schwarz Valenti, to whom he was married for 66 years. She survives him, as do three sons, Michael Valenti and his wife, Gertrude, Mark and his wife, Laura, and William and his wife, Cynthia; daughter, Mariann Hunter and her husband, Ian; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Seven siblings predeceased him.
