WHITE PLAINS Four Peekskill men have been found guilty as part of a massive county-wide drug sweep in November of 2009.
United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bhahara announced Tuesday that William Anderson, James McCrea, Prince Marsh and Pierre Myke were found guilty by a federal jury in White Plains today of participating in a conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance following a three-week trial. The jury found that the controlled substances involved in the conspiracy were crack and powder cocaine in the cases of Anderson, McCrea and Marsh and crack cocaine in the case of Myke.
The four men were originally charged along with 39 other defendants with conspiring to distribute a controlled substance. That indictment also charged members of the Santana organization with additional narcotic offenses. Of the 43 defendants charged in the original indictment, 37 have pleaded guilty, two our fugitives and, as of today's verdict, four have been convicted by a jury after trial. Bhahara praised the investigative work of the FBI and the Peekskill, Yonkers and Village of Ossining police departments, as well as the Rockland County Narcotics Task Force and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety for their involvement in the arrests.
Crack and powder cocaine continue to pose a clear threat to our communities, Bhahara said. But the successful prosecutions of these for drug dealers are a testament to our collective commitment to confront drug trafficking and keep Westchester County streets safe.
The four men were members of a cocaine and crack trafficking network led by Elvis Santana of Yonkers. The Santana organization distributed crack cocaine and powder cocaine across Westchester County, primarily in Yonkers and Peekskill. The four men and their fellow conspirators would receive crack or powder cocaine in Peekskill and surrounding areas from other members and then sell the drugs to drug users and other drug dealers, prosecutors said. The men were found guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute and process with intent to distribute a controlled substance from about February 2009 through November 2009. Additionally, the jury found that the amount of crack cocaine attributable to McCrea and Myke was 50 grams or more and to Anderson was five grams or more. A sentencing date has not been set.
