Benjamin Beason had been reported missing in May 2024, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland, Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super and Lower Township Police Chief Donald Vanaman Jr. said.
On Tuesday, March 3, a Cape May County resident was walking in a wooded area in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township when they discovered what appeared to be a human skull, authorities said. A subsequent coordinated search by law enforcement and search and rescue personnel resulted in the recovery of additional skeletal remains, authorities said.
An examination of the human remains was conducted by the New Jersey State Police Forensic Anthropology Unit and were positively identified as belonging to Beason, authorities said.
