UPDATE: The powerful storm that pushed through the area dumping up to 2 inches of rain an hour, caused flooded roads, scattered power outages and downed tree limbs. A flood watch is in effect until 6 p.m. Friday.
No major delays were reported on Metro-North. Town officials urged drivers to be cautious. Drivers were warned not to operate vehicles on flooded streets because standing water can be deeper than it appears.
On Thursday, the storm threat caused some cancellations. A community forum on "State of the Schools 2010-2011" at Stamford's Westover Magnet School Thursday evening was canceled due to weather conditions. The forum will be rescheduled at a later date. All after-school activities were canceled also, including open school nights at Roxbury, Davenport and Newfield schools.
After the storm moves through this afternoon, the forecast calls for cool, clear weather Friday night and Saturday.
