Liberation Programs has long-term residential substance abuse treatment programs in Norwalk and Stamford.
Employees of First County Bank, which also has services throughout Fairfield County, filled one-and-a-half SUVs with donated items gathered from Liberation Programs’ wish list.
Karen Kelly, First County Bank’s vice president and chief marketing officer, delivered the donations to Liberation Programs.
“One of our priorities at First County is to serve the communities in which we work, and it has become a tradition at our Holiday Party to make a contribution to one of the area nonprofits,” Kelly said in a news release.
“This year, we chose Liberation Programs because we want to recognize their work in helping to break the cycle of addiction. We know that not only helps the individual, but improves our whole community.”
The donations include diapers, formula, new bath towels, new clothes for children and adults, and personal care items.
“Addiction can and does break families apart, leaving people feeling unworthy and ungrateful, but because of community support like this, the women and men in our programs have an opportunity to realize that other people care about them, that they do matter,” Maggie Young, Liberation’s director of residential programs, said in a news release.
“Sometimes this is the first step in realizing one’s own self worth so that the healing process of recovery can begin. We are very grateful to First County Bank employees for their generosity and compassion.”
