Firefighters quickly put down Emerson house fire

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: No serious injuries were immediately reported, although a firefighter had to be treated after a fast-moving blaze at Westwood restaurant owner Luke Farrelly’s home in Emerson was quickly knocked down.

Union Street, Emerson, fire (CLIFFVIEW PILOT photos)

The fire broke out at 101 Union Street, directly behind Emerson Junior-Senior High School, just before 1 p.m. and was under control in under a half-hour.

Farrelly, who has owned P.J. Finnegan’s for decades, lives in the 44-year-old house with his family.

Several fire and ambulance companies assisted, including those from Oradell, Westwood, River Vale and Fair Lawn.

Washington Township’s Fire Department was called in to cover Emerson in the event of another fire.
