Robert F. Stevens, 77, of Glen Rock, York County, died in the crash near 9823 Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas Township, Franklin County, at 4:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, according to state police in Chambersburg.
Stevens was driving a 2013 Dodge Caravan east when he crossed the double yellow line into the westbound lane for an unknown reason, police said.
His minivan struck a westbound 1996 Peterbilt 379 tractor-trailer head-on, according to the release.
Stevens suffered fatal injuries. The truck driver, a 39-year-old Reedsville man, suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported from the scene, police said.
Both drivers were wearing lap and shoulder belts, according to the report.
Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed.
First responders reported heavy entrapment near C&R Produce, between Fort Loudon and the village of Saint Thomas.
The crash shut Route 30 in both directions near Route 416, PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler said in her Friday announcement.
The roadway reopened at 8:55 p.m., Schreffler later told Daily Voice.
This was the second fatal crash PennDOT reported on Route 30 that afternoon.
An earlier multivehicle crash in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County, left one person dead and five injured, according to PennDOT. That crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Lincoln Highway East and also prompted a Route 30 closure.
