FAIRFIELD, Conn. Fairfields leaders offered their congratulations to some of Fairfield Warde High Schools most successful competitors this past school year the math team.
The Fairfield Warde Math Team placed second in the Fairfield County Math League, less than 50 points behind league champion Greenwich. It then finished second in the medium-sized school division at the Connecticut State Math League Competition and fifth place in the large school division of the New England Association Math League competition.
The Board of Selectmen honored coaches Sandy Naughton and Phyllis Pruzinsky and team members Sean Casey, Keelan Cosgrove, Bryan Fichera, Neil Gade, Kei Nishimura-Gasparian, Hyunsoo Kim, Jonathan Liu, Oliver Sawin and Hanhee Song before its meeting Wednesday afternoon. The kids and coaches were given certificates recognizing the accomplishment.
I got more recognition for Saturday afternoons on the football field than I ever did for anything I ever did in math, First Selectman Michael Tetreau said. I think its phenomenal what these students did themselves.
