Teams from Fairfield Warde, Fairfield Ludlowe and Fairfield Prep begin state tournament action Tuesday.
In baseball, Prep and Ludlowe will play in the Class LL tournament and Warde will play in Class L. Prep is seeded 12th and hosts No. 21 East Hartford at 3:30. Ludlowe is seeded 31st and meets No. 2 Pomperaug, also at 3:30. The 17th-seeded Mustangs travel to meet No. 16 Farmington at 3:30.
In softball, 15th-seeded Fairfield Ludlowe hosts Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference rival Staples at 4 p.m. The Mustangs and the 18th-seeded Wreckers finished the regular season with identical league records, 10-8. Ludlowe reached the league playoffs on a tiebreaker, and ended up playing for the FCIAC championship before losing to Darien, 4-3. Warde is seeded 10th and hosts South Windsor at 4 p.m.
Ludlowe and Warde will also play girls tennis matches Tuesday in the first round of the Class L tournament.
In boys track, Prep's Connor Rog is seeded second in the 3,200 for the Class LL championship meet at Willowbrook Park in New Britain. He should be battling for the gold medal with Newtown's Jake Feinstein, who enters the race as the top seed with a time less than a second faster than Rog's seeded time.
