Roger Ludlowe Middle School students are taking a trip to the Caribbean this weekend, and theyre inviting you to come along. The schools drama club is putting on a production of Once on This Island, Jr., a musical fairytale set on a fantastical tropical island.
We are thrilled to bring such a lively performance to the Roger Ludlowe Middle School stage, says Greg Superty, the school's drama director. The musical score captures the high emotion of forbidden love in a society of extreme class differences against a colorful backdrop of scheming Gods and Goddesses. Our cast of talented sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders delivers an unforgettable performance!
Once on This Island, Jr. tells the story of a group of villagers who sing to a young girl frightened by a storm. They weave a story about the Gods of Love, Death, Earth and Water, and the role they play in the Romeo and Juliet-style relationship between Ti Moune, a poor peasant girl, and Daniel, a rich island boy.
The young actors will take the stage Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26, with both shows starting at 7:30 p.m. in the schools auditorium at 685 Unquowa Road. Tickets are $10 each and are available via email at [email protected] or at the door.
