FAIRFIELD, Conn. Fairfield Prep senior Connor Rog finished seventh Saturday in the Millrose Games mile for high school boys at The Armory in New York.
Rog ran 4:19.66 in a field of 11 elite runners, all of them from the Northeast. Zavon Watkins, of Liverpool High School in New York, won the race in 4:13.83.
Rog came into the race with the lowest seeded time among the 11 finishers. He moved up one spot in the final 100 meters, passing Stephan Lewandowski, of Mountain Lakes, N.J.
The University of Virginia-bound runner owns the states fastest times this winter in the mile and 3,200 meters. He is also a member of the Fairfield Prep distance medley team, which is also ranked No. 1 in the state, according to a national service that monitors track and field times.
